SITE Talk flyer
Abstract Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) are a widely used approach in generative deep learning that demonstrates how complex data can be modeled using probabilistic latent variables. VAEs are also used in modern generative systems such as latent diffusion models, including Stable Diffusion. In this talk, we introduce the main ideas behind VAEs, including latent-variable models, variational inference, the Evidence Lower Bound (ELBO), and the reparameterization trick used for training. The presentation will include code examples demonstrating how a VAE model can be trained from scratch and how images can be generated from the learned latent space. Basic familiarity with neural networks and probability theory is assumed. Bio Ismayil Shahaliyev is a PhD student at ADA University. He is an instructor in the School of IT & Engineering and holds dual master’s degrees in Computer Science and Data Analytics from ADA University and George Washington University. Today, ultra-cold atomic systems are one of the most powerful platforms for discovering new physics and developing tomorrow’s technologies. In this talk, we will cover the historical development, essential tools, and key applications of ultra-cold atoms. Bio Dr Elnur Hajiyev recently joined ADA University SITE as an Assistant Professor, and he is teaching general physics course. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore. Later he conducted quantum research in the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in National University of Singapore (NUS). He continued his PhD studies in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in the field ultra-cold atoms doing quantum physics experiments. Upon completing the PhD degree, he started his post-doctoral research in the field of quantum computing using neutral atoms in HKUST.
